At D181, we care about our employees’ health and well-being. As an educational community, we feel that wellness is a holistic state of being that results from a healthy lifestyle in a personal, professional, mental, and physical sense. Our district wellness strategy will focus on educating employees through inclusive wellness programming built around healthy lifestyle choices.
The D181 Wellness Committee was formed with the purpose of being the voice of the district when it comes to wellness initiatives. The committee is made up of nine employees – each representing one school. The Wellness Committee meets every two months during the school year to discuss ongoing wellness programming, long term strategy, and current wellness initiatives. We encourage you to reach out to your building’s wellness committee member with any questions or feedback. We have included the current list of Wellness Committee members from each building.
Our wellness strategy includes incorporating biometric testing on an annual basis. These confidential fingerstick biometric tests will be administered onsite in the Fall at no cost to employees. D181 wants to empower employees by knowing their key health indicators and providing comprehensive wellness programming to support healthy decisions.
D181 offers an onsite, one day Wellness Fair every Fall for all employees. Wellness vendors from around the area will be on hand to speak to wellness services that are available in the community. Additionally, we will be offering a wellness focused webinar to be shown during the day as an option for Professional Development Hours (PDH).
Throughout the school year, D181 will offer district wide challenges that focus on various wellness topics. The goal of these challenges is to encourage friendly competition, provide education about specific wellness topics, and encourage healthy habit formation. These challenges will be offered twice during the school year.
We recognize that well-being is more than just staying in shape—it incorporates proper nutrition, understanding the importance of mental health, keeping good financial practices, appreciating the value of your work, and recognizing your purpose. As a district, we are here to provide the necessary tools and resources to support employees’ wellness goals. And as a team, we will support our employees so they can achieve their highest level of well-being.
